Labour of Love 2007
It’s the Labour Day long weekend. Time to let loose, party and find love. For the summer’s last hurrah I suggest taking in the all night dance party that will knock your socks off and your condoms on: Labour of Love. Featuring internationally renowned DJs Armin Van Buuren, MSTRKRFT, Mark Oliver, Danny Tanaglia and many, oh so many more, the event converges on the Guvernment and the Kool Haus just in time, as the season turns, school begins and everything falls a little closer to commitment, responsibility and winter.
A little bit about the night’s most anticipated performers… Armin Van Buuren is the Netherlands’ trance king. Ranked number two in the world, his hypnotic sound has attracted legions of fans, plenty of hype and much respect for the 30-year-old producer-performer. Responsible for A State of Trance, the weekly radio show that delivers the best of the scene, Armin not only brings us his own amazing sound, but also beams new trance and electronica right into your ear for all to hear, earning him ‘Best Radio Show’ and ‘Best Compilation’ honours year in after year out. His live show is one to move to and will surely be a highlight of this year’s gala.
From around the world to our backyard, Labour of Love has worked to bring it all back now. Toronto’s own MSTRKRFT (pronounced master-craft) represent for the home of the CN Tower and I couldn’t think of a better pair to do it up. Consisting of former superstar bassist of Death from Above 1979 Jesse Keeler and producer Al-P, the duo know how to make you dance. Drawing on Death’s alternative-punk roots, MSTRKRFT is best known for their amazing original material like Easy Love and Street Justice and remixes of already smoking hot songs given their MSTRfull makeover including Metric’s Monster Hospital, Wolfmother’s Woman, Justice’s D.A.N.C.E and Chromeo’s Tenderoni. MSTRKRFT deserve their reputation and shouldn’t disappoint at this the final laugh of an amazing May to August holiday.
