The Superior Restaurant that's right by Dundas Square!

Tom, whom we met just last week (see the behind the scenes at the Superior Restaurant), took us around his restaurant, which is located right across from the Dundas Square and other excellent downtown Toronto venues. The Superior Restaurant is known for its excellent wine selection and its authentic regional ingredients, served up fresh.

The get-to-know-you over art and coffee date

In general, filming a cafe is a pretty monotonous task- unless you're talking about a cafe and art gallery in one!  Welcome to the Art Square Café, located just outside of China town, near the University of Toronto.

The great bar pickup - thanks to the Fox and Fiddle!

Staff filmographer Tuna met up with Mary, a Fox and the Fiddle bartender, to ask some questions about picking up women at the bar...  We think he's a bit clueless when it comes to these things, so it’s a good thing Mary's here to set him straight!

Selecting wine? How about some help from the LCBO!

Michael Fagan is a very well-respected wine expert and is one of the leading resources at the LCBO (www.LCBO.com).  Here, he talks about selecting the best reds, whites, champagnes, and sweets for Valentine's.  This is Wine 101 for those who are looking to impress their special someone this year. There are three videos below!

Superior Restaurant - Behind the Scenes!

Filming at Superior Restaurant just last week made us feel we were someplace special. Superior Restaurant is family-owned and has transformed over the course of that family's history since the 1940s, from its roots as a candy factory to its present incarnation as a fine dining establishment. Tom, the third-generation owner of the business, takes pride in being part of a long history of serving Toronto. Located right across from the Eaton Centre, there's no shortage of entertainment hotspots within walking distance.  Emphasizing fine ingredients and careful selection of fine wines, Tom insists that you won't find the same kind of quality within the vicinity.  For an excellent before-the-play meal, consider taking him/her to Superior Restaurant- for a superior experience!

Guilt-free morning-after

Okay, in all honesty, some morning-afters aren’t guilt-free. However, for the most part, a quick snuggle, joint shower, and then breakfast together is a great way to spend the first part of a Saturday morning.

So what’s this ‘guilt-free’ business?

After all those ‘Happy New Years’, ‘Merry Christmases’, and ‘Happy Hanukahs’, the only post-Auld Lang Syne thoughts you’ll be thinking will be about those extra ten pounds you packed on during the break.

Well, not really – but what is realistic is that an awful lot of people make the ol’ ‘be healthier’, ‘lose weight’, ‘work out more’ types of resolutions. And the easiest way to break these decrees of determination? Peer pressure. Especially a ‘peer’ who eats with you and encompasses your free time.

Last night, Bobby seemed like a great choice, and this morning, you smile as you wake up to the smell of breakfast cooking. As you make your way downstairs, he turns with a grin in front of the stove, frying up bacon and eggs, spreading thick slabs of butter on thickly sliced white bread, heaping sugar and cream into a cup of coffee, and heating up danishes in the oven. “I thought we’d munch on this and watch a couple of movies,” he says congenially.

Going to Winterlicious? Here's some friendly advice!

Every year, foodies can count on two things:  Summerlicious and Winterlicious.  Starting off the year just before Valentine’s Day, Winterlicious 2008 promises to be even bigger, with better selections and popular chefs such as Claudio Aprile of Colborne Lane, Didier Leroy of  Didier, Guy Rubino of Rain, and David Lee of Splendido.  This year, 121 restaurants are participating in the event, and it is gaining ground as one of  the most successful and anticipated annual events in Toronto.

The event is sponsored by local restaurants in the Toronto area that all offer prix fixe menus at a set cost of $15-20 for lunch and $25-35 for dinner.  If there was ever a time try out all the most prestigious restaurants in Toronto, the Winterlicious (and Summerlicious) season is it!
