The House of Salgado and its custom-made suits!

When it comes to fashion, Antonio Salgado knows how to impress. At the House of Salgado, Annabelle met up with Antonio to talk about the care and quality behind every one of their hand-tailored suits. Whether you're an up-and-comer, a successful professional, or groom-to-be, the House of Salgado has something special to suit you (no pun intended).

The House of Salgado - Behind the Scenes

The House of Salgado is a family run, custom men's tailor and shirt maker located in the TD Tower on Bay Street.  The clientele is all business, men with fashion sense and class who prefer handmade suits to common thrift.  This place is a staple in the business community, with many of its clients positioned in some of Toronto's most powerful jobs.  Mark and his father, Antonio, both tend to their shop by outfitting their customers in the latest and most exquisite fabrics in the world.  Even the boxes that the linens come in are expensive and extravagant!  If you are a first-time buyer, the Salgados encourage you to make an appointment so that you can be properly measured and have enough time to select your colours and materials.  This experience can take upwards of an hour if you consider that the House of Salgado not only makes suits and shirts, but also shoes!  And ladies, this is a great place to get your man suited up for your wedding.  Start off 2008 with new clothing fit for royalty but made exactly in your measurements.  You'll come out looking like the next big Bay Street broker.

Top 5 Summer Selections for Men & Women

Fashion Faire
By Paul Livingston

It's that time of year again. The sun is shining, the air is sticky, the weather is hot.

It is my personal theory that in the summer, more than any other season, there are an increasing number of people who are single and on the hunt for their summer fling.

We've all heard the sayings: "Love is in the air," "Spring Fever," and "Summer sex."

This leads me to draw several simple conclusions. One: "summer singles," as I call them, will be out and about, strutting their stuff around Toronto's hot spots.   If so fact so, there will be plenty of opportunities to see and be seen and eventually hook up for a date sometime during the heat wave. And if so fact so, that means you're going to have to look your best—as much as possible.

The First Impression: First Date Fashion

By Paul Livingston

So gentlemen: you've probably read through the other fabulous advice on this website on how to GET a date, and maybe even where to TAKE your newly acquired date. But au contraire, all that means nothing. If you don't have the personal image to match the picture perfect date, then you better have one heck of a personality. Ok, relax, I'm kidding!  A reality of life, and with the dating scene, is that many of us place an instant emphasis on the superficial, the first impression, as soon as we meet someone. And unless your date is a long-time friend, you, my male friends, are judged no differently.  But don't get me wrong. Say perhaps your new 'friend-turned-lover' is a little hesitant about taking the next romantic step, you need to be on your game: looking good and smelling right.
